Overview
Destination Indigenous is for travellers seeking authentic Indigenous experiences in Canada. Launched in 2020 by the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC), Destination Indigenous markets the best Indigenous tourism experiences from coast to coast to coast. Destination Indigenous opens doors into the living cultures of Indigenous Peoples in Canada today through Indigenous nature and wildlife tours, cultural sharing, accommodation and relaxation, culinary experiences, shopping and more.
This front end was built in WordPress, using Masterpress as a way to build out custom fields. Requirements were in place to pull in fresh data for any of the Indigenous Destination listings on the website. Data was pulled from Tripadvisor, Crowdriff, a CRM, among other remote locations. This was implemented through a custom WordPress plugin and a custom frontend to display all this ever-changing data.
All of the data is displayed on a map and filterable by categories, name, geographical location, and other listing-specific information.
